Lone Star Corrals 28 Silver Garbage Nominations
MEN: Two and a Half Men, which starts its ninth season this fall, received eight Silver Garbage Award nominations for its abbreviated eighth season, including Worst Comedy Series and Worst Lead Actor for its controversial former star, Charlie Sheen. “Lone Star” Corrals 28 Silver Garbage Award Nominations
It was the first scripted network series to be cancelled last fall, and “Lone Star” left its skidmark after a two-episode run with 28 Silver Garbage Award Nominations, including Worst Drama Series and Worst New Series of the Year as the 2011 Silver Garbage Award nominations were announced from the Indymedia Carriage House in Columbus, Ohio today.
“The show was supposed to be the next ‘Dallas’,” said Silver Garbage Awards founder Bryan Curtiss. “But instead, it ended up being a complete and utter disaster that almost didn’t even make it to episode two.”
The 28 nominations for “Lone Star” are twice as many as the show with the second-most nominations, “The Paul Reiser Show”, with 14 nominations. And like “Star”, “Reiser” only lasted two shows.
Curtiss announced the nominations while taping a segment for his radio program “The DJBC Happy Hour” on WCRS-FM radio in Columbus, Ohio, which will air on July 18.
One of the most controversial headlines centering around the small screen centered around the firing of actor Charlie Sheen from long-running sitcom “Two and a Half Men”, which received eight Silver Garbage nods, including Worst Comedy and Worst Actor for Sheen, who is also cited separately for his Guest Appearance on Drew Carey’s improv show on the Game Show Network.
“By the time he took his ‘Rant Show’ on the road, we all got sick and tired on Sheen and his catchphrases,” Curtiss said. “Sheen was very annoying, and I commend the producers of ‘Two and a Half Men’ for taking him to task.”
The nominees for Worst Comedy Series are “Mr. Sunshine”, Matthew Perry’s failed broadcasting sitcom on ABC; “My Generation”, ABC’s failed dramedy centering around friends in a post 9/11 world; “Outsourced”, NBC’s critically panned remake of the John Jeffcoat romantic comedy film about a call center in India; “The Paul Reiser Show”, and “Two and a Half Men”.
With “Men” starting its ninth season in the fall, it is the latest a show has been a Worst Comedy Series nominee since “According to Jim” in 2009.
The Worst Drama Series nominees are Lifetime’s “Army Wives”; CBS’s “The Defenders”, a modern twist of the Emmy-winning 1960s drama; “Law & Order: Los Angeles”, NBC’s failed spin-off of the “Law & Order” franchise; “Lone Star”, and “Outlaw”, NBC’s flop starring Jimmy Smits as a Supreme Court Justice who steps down from the bench to be a public defender.
The Worst New Series nominees are “The Defenders”, “Lone Star”, “My Generation”, “Outlaw”, and “The Paul Reiser Show”.
The most-nominated specials are “The Decision”, NBA star LeBron James’ hour-long press conference announcing his decision to leave his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat, and “The Kennedys”, a miniseries about America’s political dynasty that was yanked from the History Channel lineup before being revived by a small unknown cable network. Both had four nominations.
Returning this year to the Silver Garbage Awards after a seven-year hiatus are technical categories.
That is not the only addition this year as Lead and Supporting “recognition” for first-year shows are added, similar to the Bryan Awards.
The winners for the Silver Garbage Awards will be announced on September 17, the eve of the telecast for the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

“The Last Airbender” leads all films with 16 Silver Garbage Film Nods, including Worst Picture and Director (M. Night Shyamalan) at the first-ever Silver Garbage Film Awards.
The categories in this category were formerly part of the Bryan Movie Awards, but were separated to provide clarity to the Bryan Movie Awards.
“In years past, it was utterly confusing to say that ‘this movie here’ led the Best of Movies with 15 nominations, while ‘that movie here’ led the Worst of Movies with 12 nominations,” said Bryan Awards creator Bryan Curtiss. “It’s a more clearer and understanding picture. Both awards will be posted on the exact same web page, but they will be two separate awards shows, and I feel that singling out the worst of the big screen fits under the Silver Garbage label.”

Silver Garbage Awards Watch: The New Fall Season
This week, the 2010-11 broadcast network season officially began. The hits will soon be separated from the misses. The Emmy contenders from the Emmy pretenders. What new fall shows seem like a sure shot to be crowned for television's lowest honor- the Silver Garbage Award?
Let's start with the fourth network, Fox, and LONE STAR, which did not live up from its lead-in House, as it lost more than half of House's audience, eventually gaining only 4.5 million viewers. Not a good start on opening night.
Odds of It Sweeping Next Summer's Silver Garbage Awards: 2 to 1
Moving onto the CW, and Hellcats. Out of the CW's 28 Silver Garbage Award nominations this summer, 25 of them were in between Worst Drama Melrose Place and Worst New Series TBL: The Beautiful Life. It's a show about high school cheerleaders, and it doesn't look promising, critically.
Odds of It Sweeping Next Summer's Silver Garbage Awards: 4 to 1
Staying with the CW, I think that their other new show, Nikita, is a worthless piece of garbage.

The promos have been played to death on CBS throughout the summer, and it looks like a really stupid show.

2010 Silver Garbage Awards- Melrose, Brothers Lead With 14 Nominations

When the CW decided to revive “Melrose Place” in the spring of 2009, the execs at the fledgling network were unaware what would happen next.
The failed remake to the successful 1990s primetime soap turned a show that was considered “Appointment TV” to “Must Flee TV”, and was cancelled after one painful season. The show leads with 14 Silver Garbage Award nominations, including Worst Drama and Worst New Series.
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” said Silver Garbage Awards creator Bryan Curtiss. “And then the CW tried to fix it, and disaster struck.”
Sharing the lead with “Melrose Place” is “Brothers”, Fox’s failed family sitcom, which also has 14 Nominations.
“‘Brothers’ was by far, the worst sitcom in a relatively weak year for Comedies in this awards,” Curtiss said. “It was so weak, that there could be possible scenarios played out as the date pushes forward to announce the winners.”
Joining “Brothers” in the Worst Comedy Series race are “Hank”, “Scrubs”, “Til Death”, and “The Jay Leno Show”.

The end result was that nobody really won and NBC became desperate to fill up five hours of programming for the price of one.”
Among the missing shows in the final ballot is the “NCIS” franchise, once a perennial staple in recent years, has faded from Silver Garbage view. Curtiss explains, if they did the expanded nominee format like the Emmys and Bryan Awards, “NCIS” and “NCIS: Los Angeles” would have gotten a little bit more love, as the “NCIS: Los Angeles” finished sixth in voting for Worst New Series, Worst Drama Series, and Worst Remake or Spin-Off.
“‘NCIS’ and ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ in a relatively ‘weak’ year, would have both gotten in. I still think it’s an overrated show, despite the fact that both shows are hits,” Curtiss remarked.
The first show to be cancelled in the fall season, “TBL: The Beautiful Life” got an amassing 11 nominations, in a show that Curtiss admits has a special spot for the Silver Garbage Awards.
“‘TBL’ was a complete train wreck from the moment that the CW first aired the promos for the show last summer. Not even the network execs themselves were prepared for it to sink that quickly,” Curtiss said about the instant failure of the show, which was pulled after only airing twice last September.
Joining “Melrose” and “TBL” in the Worst Drama lineup are “Eastwick”, “Past Life”, and “Trauma”.
The Nominees for Worst of the First Ten Years will be announced on July 16 and winners announced on August 20. The winners for the Silver Garbage Awards will be announced on August 28, the eve of the telecast for the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

When the CW decided to revive “Melrose Place” in the spring of 2009, the execs at the fledgling network were unaware what would happen next.
The failed remake to the successful 1990s primetime soap turned a show that was considered “Appointment TV” to “Must Flee TV”, and was cancelled after one painful season. The show leads with 14 Silver Garbage Award nominations, including Worst Drama and Worst New Series.
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” said Silver Garbage Awards creator Bryan Curtiss. “And then the CW tried to fix it, and disaster struck.”
Sharing the lead with “Melrose Place” is “Brothers”, Fox’s failed family sitcom, which also has 14 Nominations.
“‘Brothers’ was by far, the worst sitcom in a relatively weak year for Comedies in this awards,” Curtiss said. “It was so weak, that there could be possible scenarios played out as the date pushes forward to announce the winners.”
Joining “Brothers” in the Worst Comedy Series race are “Hank”, “Scrubs”, “Til Death”, and “The Jay Leno Show”.
