IN about 15 minutes, the 54th Annual Grammy Awards will air LIVE on CBS, from the Staples Center in Los Angeles (home of the L.A. Lakers), hosted by LL Cool J. The glitz and the glamour of the recording industry's most important night of the year has taken a backseat this year with the death of singer Whitney Houston yesterday.

8:05PM- Grammy Host LL Cool J comes to the stage for the first time tonight. "How do we speak to this time? To this day? There is no way around this. We've had a death in our family. [...] Tonight, we begin with a prayer for our fallen sister, Whitney Houston."

The Grammy Nominations Concert Special
In just about a few minutes, the Grammy Nominations Concert Special will kick off on CBS, once again hosted by Grammy-winning rap star and actor LL Cool J. Only a handful of nominations will be announced, and there are changes from last year. The number of categories has gone down from 109 for last year's Grammys, to 78. Only ten categories will be announced on the night of the Grammycast on February 12.

LIVE Blog Updates: The 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards
In about 30 minutes from now, the 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will air LIVE on CBS, broadcast from the Vegas Hilton in Las Vegas. Game Show Host nominee Wayne Brady (Let's Make a Deal) is the host for the ceremony. There will be tributes to the Oprah Winfrey Show, All My Children, and One Life to Live, plus Lifetime Achievement Emmys for Emmy-winning Game Show Hosts Alex Trebek and Pat Sajak.
This weekend, the Creative Arts Daytime Emmys were held, and General Hospital cleaned house with six Daytime Emmys, needing three wins tonight to break the record it shares with three other soaps for most Daytime Emmy wins in a single season, plus it could expand its own record for Drama Series wins with an 11th Daytime Emmy in that race. In its way is two-time defending champ The Bold and the Beautiful, which is oddly favored to three-peat in that race.

38th Annual Daytime Emmy Nominations
General Hospital and The Young and the Restless, the two most-honored soap operas of all-time, lead what could be the final Daytime Emmy race with 21 and 20 nominations, respectively.
This is the first time since 2001 in which two soaps have had 20 nominations or more. This year's GH-Y&R race is a throwback to the 1996, 1997, and 1999 Daytime Emmy races, all won by GH.
The nominees in the Drama Series race are All My Children (ABC), The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS), General Hospital (ABC), and The Young and the Restless (CBS).
A lot of noticeable snubs occurred this year, starting with last year's Best Actress champ, Maura West, and former As the World Turns co-stars Trent Dawson, Eric Sheffer Stevens, and Mick Hazen. Game Show Hosts Alex Trebek and Pat Sajak, who are both recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award this year, also got snubbed in competitive categories.
For the second year in a row, Ellen DeGeneres did not throw her hat in the Talk Show Host ring.
The show that replaced ATWT on the CBS Daytime lineup, The Talk was completely shut out.

Grammy Nominations- Eminem Recovers with 10 Nods
Last night was a big night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles for the Music Industry as the nominations for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards were announced during a live, televised special on CBS.
Grammy and Academy Award-winning rapper Eminem racked up ten Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year for his album, "Recovery", which was considered to be a critical and commercial success, and Record of the Year for "Love the Way You Lie", a collaboration with singer Rihanna.
With the second-most nods was Cee Lo Green, whose claim to fame this past year was the expletive-filled song, "**** You", which was changed (for radio) to "Forget You". Cee Lo Green received seven nominations.
Other big nominees included Katy Perry, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, teen sensation Justin Bieber, and the late Michael Jackson. One big newcomer, Ke$ha was blanked out entirely.
