Verdict: ‘Made in Jersey’ Rules With 18 Nominations
July 19, 2013
The verdict is in, and “Made in Jersey” is charged with 18 Silver Garbage Award Nominations, including Worst New Series and Worst Drama Series, when the Silver Garbage Award nominations were announced via podcast on Wednesday afternoon.
The failed CBS drama about a tough New Jersey lawyer was the first casualty of the Fall 2012 season.
“CBS over-played the promos for ‘Jersey’ last summer,” said Silver Garbage Awards creator Bryan Curtiss. “The promos were over the top and annoying, and the premise was really bad.” CBS pulled the show after two episodes in October.
On the Comedy side, it’s a three-show race between “Animal Practice”, “Partners”, and “Whitney” with 13, 12, and 11 nominations respectively. “Animal Practice” was a failed NBC comedy about a veterinary practice, which garnered a nomination for it’s non-human cast member, Crystal the Monkey in the Worst Supporting Actress category. The second (and final) season of “Whitney” was worse than the first, which garnered nine nominations last year at the Silver Garbage Awards.
“‘Partners’ was so hated by the critics and people alike, that when it was cancelled, CBS removed the show from the People’s Choice Ballot. You don’t get anymore critical than that,” Curtiss added about “Partners”, a comedy about a straight man and his gay best friend that was panned by critics and cancelled during November sweeps.
In other races, the Reality race is a competitive fight between TLC’s “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” and the final season of MTV’s “Jersey Shore”, while in the Specials Categories, “Mockingbird Lane”, a failed reboot of the 1960s sitcom “The Munsters” is in a tight race with Lifetime’s remake of the 1980 Brooke Shields film “Blue Lagoon”, “The Blue Lagoon: The Awakening.”
The Creative Arts Silver Garbage Awards will be held on September 13, the eve of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, and the 2013 Silver Garbage Award winners will be announced on September 21, the eve of the broadcast of the 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on CBS.
